The STORYMOVING FESTIVAL – THE FARMS AND CASTLES is an opportunity to spend a special night, arranged in three distinct moments: by immersing yourself in nature and in the beauty of the Monferrato and Astesana area, discovering its most amusing anecdotes and most interesting stories in the open air and in a light-hearted mannerstopping only to take the time to savour the foods and wines that make it memorable and visit its historic farms and ancient castles, which are usually closed to the public. Rounding off the event with an exclusive performance by director and playwright Gabriele Vacis.

Six events in six municipalities in the Monferrato areathat will appeal to everyone: both those who want to relax and enjoy themselves on beautiful summer nights and those who are keen on theatre and culture.

FESTIVAL PROGRAMME

  • THE THEATRICAL WALK

    The actors of the Compagnia del Teatro degli Acerbi, our Storymovers®, will be in charge of the first part of the evening dedicated to the theatrical walk through the historical and natural beauty of our area, by offering small groups of spectators a performance in stages, written by Fabio Fassio (playwright and director of the Teatro degli Acerbi), in which they will literally give new life to characters, historical facts and popular legends taken from the Census of the Human Landscape..

  • FOOD, WINE AND TRADITION

    At the end of the tour, there will bebe an informal but select food and wine tasting in collaboration with local food and wine experts such as: the Regional Wine Shops of Nizza Monferrato and Canelli, our PARTNERS and the Associazione Produttori del Nizza and Associazione Produttori Moscato Canelli: it is impossible not to stop for a meal, when it comes to the culture of the territory!

  • ON STAGE WITH GABRIELE VACIS

    In the second part of the evening Gabriele Vacis, one of Italy’s most important theatre directors and playwrights, within the framework of the actions promoted by the Istituto di Pratiche Teatrali per la Cura della Persona, will offer the public spettacolo di meditazioni narrative, lecture e incontri, a show of storytelling meditations, lectures and talks, with the participation of temporary and permanent citizens, and students “to STAY in the present”, addressing new issues each evening.

His artistic and cultural investigation focused on theatrical language and storytelling has helped the birth of storytelling theatre and the development of multimedia projects, ranging from cinema to te-levision, new media and – of course – theatre, where he has reinterpreted classical plays from a contemporary perspective.

STORYTELLING MEDITATIONS

It is a conceptual evolution that, drawing on “local” keywords, transforms them into universal con-cepts; as part of the STORYMOVING FESTIVAL, we will attend six lectures dedicated to citizen-ship, pedagogy, landscape: a journey through literature and art to explain what CARE FOR THE PERSON AND THE ENVIRONMENT is in our changing world.

The topics of the storytelling meditations will be:

  • Italo Calvino: Invisible Cities. Practices of inclusion

  • Marcel Schwob: The Children’s Crusade. Meditation on climate

  • Dino Buzzati: The seven messengers. Meditation on weather

  • Karen Blixen: Babette’s lunch. Meditation on food

  • Michelangelo Buonarroti: The Last Judgement Meditation on form

  • Euripide: Phoeniciae. The public debate
